Install TLP under Ubuntu to reduce heat and increase laptop battery life

TLP is a free power management tool that reduces computer heat and increases laptop battery life. It's a lightweight tool, there is no GUI, no need to do a lot of configuration, the general computer uses the default configuration. Here's how to install TLP on Ubuntu.

# Add PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linrunner/tlp
sudo apt-get update

# Install TLP

sudo apt-get install tlp tlp-rdw
sudo apt-get install tp-smapi-dkms acpi-call-dkms

# Start TLP

sudo tlp start

If the output is: TLP started in AC mode. That means the installation was successful.
